WINTER CARNIVAL PARADE UPDATE
Some last minute information for tomorrow.

So the weather is looking great. It is to be sunny but a bit Chilly. Please dress warm enough you will not be allowed to ride in the trucks. 

We are still looking for 3 track officials, if we do not get any volunteers we will not be able to use the obstacle for riding. Remember that you will need to sign a waiver to ride the obstacle (if we find track officials) and only current ABA members may sign a waiver to ride on the obstacle. 

Remember we are meeting on 27th in front of Seaton, Riders 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult on the parade route and pick up will be back at Seaton at the finish of the parade. 

We hope to see everyone out dust off those bikes and get air in your tires!

WINTER CARNIVAL PARADE
Here is the latest information on the Vernon BMX Parade float. Saturday Feb 4th 

We are float #36 and will be marshalling on 27th in front of Seaton Secondary, you cant miss us. The float will be there at 10:15 if you are signing up to ride the obstacle you must have that done by 11:35 no late registrations sorry. If you are not planning on riding the obstacle the Parade starts at 12:00 just show up before we leave. Everyone is welcome to ride bikes and walk with us, just dress in Blue and white Vernon BMX colors. 

We are looking for 3 adult volunteers to be "track officials" So if you are walking the route with us why not put on a vest and help us out. We can not have kids riding the obstacle without the track officials. 

Hope to see all Vernon BMX families out on Saturday.

WINTER CARNIVAL PARADE
This Saturday February 4. YES Vernon BMX will once again have an interactive float at the parade! All riders/family members/friends are welcome to bring a bike (BMX, or mountain bike) or just walk with us in the parade. We only ask that you wear your VERNON BMX BLUE and WHITE colours (or any Blue and White) to participate in the parade.

A couple of guidelines for the safety of all participants

1. Kids 9 and under must be accompanied on the parade route by an adult. 

2. Pickup is going to be at Seaton Secondary please do not scoop your kids early or tell them to leave us at the end of the parade route and go find you watching the parade. It was a bit chaotic last year at the end of the parade with kids just leaving, we do not wish to loose anyone.

3. Only current VALID ABA members may ride the obstacle, this is for insurance purposes. You must sign up your son/daughter at the start of the parade in order for them to get a tag to ride the obstacle. 

We will be given our Marshalling information on Wed so watch for a second email with last minute details and meeting information.

TRACK IS CLOSED
The track will be closed indefinitely while we undertake some major renovations. We will be screening the rocks from the track to make it easier to maintain and for a smoother racing surface. If all goes well the screening should be done by the end of the week and we will start rebuilding the track weather permitting. Given the vagaries of the weather we do not expect to complete the track rebuild until next spring.

It was a fantastic year of racing and we are looking forward to another one next year. See you at the banquet!

YEAR END BANQUET & CELEBRATION
The banquet will be held this year on Sunday October 23 from 4 - 6pm in the gymnasium of the Vernon Christian School (6890 Pleasant Valley Road). 

Pizza will be served at 4:30 with presentations and awards beginning at 5:00pm. Please bring an appetizer or desert to share.

Please RSVP to mailouts@vernonbmx.com as to how many people from your family will be attending so we can get a rough number for pizza.

Hope to see all of you there to celebrate all the success from the past season.

KELOWNA BMX DOUBLE POINTS
Kelowna will be holding a double points Trophy race on Monday October 3. Sign up 6-6:30pm with racing at 7pm. $14 entry fee.

YEAR END T-SHIRTS
All registered members of the Vernon club are eligible for a Vernon BMX T-shirt. There is a choice of three different colors; black, orange or pink. The shirts will be handed out at our year end banquet (date and place to be confirmed shortly). Orders are due by this Tuesday September 20. The order sheet will be at the track Monday and Tuesday only so don't miss out. Payment is due for any extra shirts ordered by Tuesday September 20 as well.

Race for Life Pledge Envelopes
Race for Life pledge envelopes are now due. We would like to get all envelopes back, even if you don't have any pledges to turn in, so we know everything is accounted for.

Pro 1 BMX Supercamp Elite
The Vernon Supercamp Elite Training has been moved to July 29th, 30th, 31st and August 1st. This is the August long weekend.

TRACK REBUILD
A big THANK-YOU to all that helped with the second straight rebuild. Dean B, Kevin and Don H, Colin H and of course Nash Collee. Thanks to everyone's hard work we got it done in one day (and it turned out pretty sweet). The gate is locked for now, we would like to do a little tweaking of some features and a bit more rolling. I will be there in the morning and hopefully we can get the rest done before the kids are out of school. 

Feel free to come down and ride but be aware that the edges are soft and if we could discourage kids from trick riding and landing on the lips of the jumps as they still need time to set up. Thanks again everyone and come on down and check it out.

CONGRATS TO KEVIN HILL!
Kevin took home the silver medal in Snowboarder Cross at the X Games in Colorado this past weekend. A fantastic result in only his second X Games start and he came within a whisker of taking the win to boot!

WINTER CARNIVAL PARADE - SAT. FEB 5

Mark your calendars for the Winter Carnival Parade this Saturday Feb 5th.

Vernon BMX will once again have a float in the parade. The float will be parked in the staging area at 10:00 am (we have not been given an exact location yet). You can arrive no later than 11:30am if you are going to participate in the parade with us. We would love to see everyone out there. Bring your bike, wear your BMX gear, and yes all riders must be wearing a helmet (oh you know who you are!). Anyone can ride with us so get your family out riding.

Now this said float is... as of yet not built, just a small detail.... We will be looking for a work crew for the upcoming week to help build and create this masterpiece... We will have the date and time finalized for the work party by the end of the weekend and I will send out another email with further information. So keep your eye out for another email and if you can not make it to help out and build, we hope to see you at the Parade.

BANQUET WRAP-UP
A thank you to everyone for attending the Vernon BMX Year end Banquet on Sunday. It was a great way to end the season and honour all our riders. Great job this season to all riders and we look forward to seeing you all again next year. Tell all your friends how great the sport is and bring them out to give it whirl.

Also a great big THANK YOU to the banquet committee, Shylo and Leanne for organizing the event again this year.
