March 8, 2010 TRACK REBUILD We will be re-building all four straights of the track in preparation for the upcoming season. Weather permitting we expect to get started on Thursday March 11 and be finished by Sunday March 14. The track committee has put together an awesome plan for the track. We could always use more volunteers to rake and finish the track. Call Dean Botterill at 250-545-0640 if you can help out. Even a few hours would be very much appreciated. The track will be closed during the renovations. We apologize for any inconvenience.
March 8, 2010 Numbers are available at the motoshed for $0.75 each or 3 for $2. March 6, 2010 TRACK IS OPEN The track is now open on a limited basis. It is still very soft in turn 1 and 3 so please be careful and try not to leave ruts.

December 27, 2009 A report from Kevin follows: Hi everyone, With a good finish to the end of my BMX biking year, finishing up the year with a #2 Pro Plate in the ABA Canadian race circuit I was ready to get into the snowboarding race season and start it off right. Starting off the season with the National Team camp in Powder King Mt 1.5 hrs North past Prince George Dec 1-7 was the testing grounds for all the up and coming National Development Team riders to show their skills. 2 riders out of the 10 would earn a spot at the 2nd World Cup of the season in Telluride Colorado Dec 17-20 and then earn further spots for the next World Cups in Austria, Switzerland and Stoneham, Quebec the last World Cup before the Olympics! The time trial day came and we were doing 2 timed runs in the morning and 2 timed runs in the afternoon. They were taking the best 2 combined runs and deciding which riders move on to the next World Cups. After the day was finished the coaches sat us down for a team meeting and told us who the two riders were. I was kind of shocked when they called out my name because I hadn't been feeling very well that day but I got 1 of the 2 spots and I was really excited to move forward on this very important Olympic season! So last weekend Dec 17-20, I raced in the 2nd World Cup snowboard cross race held in Telluride Colorado. Friday held time trials with only the top 32 out of 64 racers being able to move on to Saturday's finals race. I qualified 15th my first run and some riders bettered there time the second run and I was moved to 19th and moved on to the finals Saturday. In Saturday's first qualifying round I had a stacked heat with France, Swiss and USA's top racers. Getting a great start out of the gate and side by side coming into the first turn I was able to come out in second, while trying to make a pass along the fastest part of the course, the US rider and I bumped and both of us lost some speed and the France rider passed us leaving me in 3rd place; where I finished the race not being able to catch them on the rest of the course. With only two riders advancing I had to sit it out for the rest of the day putting me in 24th after all was said and done. NBC which is the Olympic network, will air the Visa Snowboardcross Cup in Telluride Dec. 26th at 1:30 p.m. ET. To move on to the Europe World Cups the coaches wanted a top 16 or an exceptional performance from me and the other rider that had raced the Telluride World Cup and they would decide after the race was over that night. At dinner that night the National Team coach informed me that I was going to be moving on to the next 2 European Cups because of my exceptional performance. I was very excited to be picked by the coaches because it was such a tough field. It will be another development team rider and myself travelling to Europe for these next 2 World Cups! December 12, 2009 Great results for everyone that went. The competition level was top shelf with 2,630 riders competing in 461 motos over the three day event. Grand Nationals Results
Click the links on the placings above to see the videos. Links will be updated as more motos are posted. Both Dean and Chris were up against very tough competition with 30 riders each in their cruiser classes. Dean was looking good in 20" until he got rubbed out in turn #1. Don was in second place in cruiser and challenging for first when the first place rider crashed and took Don out. Congrats to Arleigh and Shylo for their fine finishes. Alex Milnes from Kelowna had some tough luck with crashes in his qualifying rounds in both classes. Until then he was running well enough to make his mains. Next year. Videos of the mains will be posted in the next few days at go211.com here

October 25, 2009 It was another great year of BMX in Vernon. See you all in the Spring!
October 12, 2009 Congratulations to Shanda Hill for earning the #1 Canadian Girls Cruiser title. And in other breaking news, both Chris “the Monsoon” Spence and Dean Knopf are tired of being “Nashed” in 36-40 cruiser and have agreed that “things have gotta change”. Stay tuned for more bar bashing, elbow rubbing action... The Vernon Morning Star write up is here .
Borderline Nationals 34 Vernon racers (7 doing the double in 20" & cruiser) competed and took home 15 gold medal finishes, 19 silver and 16 bronze combined over the weekend, making this National one of the most successful of the 2009 season for Vernon's racers. Tanner Witt, Leanne Botterill and Shanda Hill were consistent with 1st place finishes on Saturday and Sunday and despite a spectacular crash on Saturday (15X) Colin Hildebrant still managed to join the spectators on Sunday even though he could not race. Biggest comebacks of the weekend went to Jeremy Deschamps and Jared Fitt, who despite pulling in 5th and 8th place on Saturday, came back on fire Sunday and both pulled in first place finishes. Aaron Botterill and Keenon Jeberg raced hard but were unable to transfer to the main due to extremely tough competition in 10 expert and 8 expert respectively. Congratulations to all the racers that made it to Langley!
