How to Get Started
The best way to get started is to come by the track on
Monday night during practice times. Ask at the
motoshed
for Don Hill,
Dean Knopf or
Shylo Orchard.
They will be more than happy to answer all your questions and help you get
started. You can also call Dean at 250-503-1428 or email webmaster@vernonbmx.com
for more information.
Equipment
A bike (the one you own now) with kickstand and chain guard removed, helmet
(full face recommended), long sleeve shirt, long pants and sturdy closed toe
shoes.
Feel free to ask at the track about the different type of bikes and equipment.
BMXers love their sport and are more than willing to help newcomers get up to
speed with the sport.
Membership
An annual membership is $55 and is good for one year from the date of purchase. This license allows the rider to
race on all ABA tracks in Canada and the US. These is also a one day trial
membership for no charge that can be used for a race or practice night or a 30
day temporary membership for $35. The 30 day temporary membership allows a rider
to participate in the weekly practices and races (normal race fees apply). The
temporary membership can be converted to an annual membership for and additional
$25. Trophies are awarded to all newcomers after their first race.
Weekly Races & Fees
Entry fees for Vernon BMX races are $5. Entry fees for multi point or special races are more and
vary with the type of race. Ask at the motoshed if you are unsure of the cost of a race.
Awards will vary and will compliment race fees.
Races are held each Tuesday with registration from 5:45-6:30 and racing at 7pm.
Pre-registration is available by calling the moto shed at 545-6990. Please arrive at the track no later than
6:45pm to pay your race fees at the motoshed.
We encourage riders to get there well before 6:30 to properly warm up, do some gates and socialize with the other
racers. Before and after races are as important to the kids as the race itself. This is where they work on
parts of their skills and learn from the other racers, some of whom are from out of town so this is the only time they
see them.
Races are organized according to age groups and skill levels so everyone gets the opportunity to compete on a fair and competitive
basis.
Practice Night & Fees
Organized practice sessions are held each Monday night
during our season. These are paid for by the Vernon BMX club. There is no
charge to any person that holds a valid ABA membership.

Free Riding
The track is open (weather permitting) to the public free of charge whenever there is
not a sanctioned event. The track is closed if there is a significant amount
of rain and the track becomes muddy and soft. We re-open the track as soon as
possible once the track is dry enough to ride on without leaving ruts. Please
come out and enjoy the use of this facility any time. We hope you will enjoy
it so much you'll become a member and join the fun.
